Dr Chen Huang
Postdoctoral Research Associate
DPhil (Oxford)
BEng (Tsinghua University, China)
Chen Huang became a postdoctoral research associate after finishing his DPhil (PhD) in 2016 with Prof Angus Kirkland. Chen's DPhil project focuses on ultra high resolution imaging of radiation-sensitive materials and electron exit wave reconstruction. The project extended the application of exit wave reconstruction to the characterisation of highly radiation-sensitive materials, such as zeolites.
Chen received his BEng degree in Materials Science and Engineering at Tsinghua University, China. He has previously worked in Prof. J. Zhu's group at Beijing National Centre for Electron Microscopy (BNCEM) during his last two years at Tsinghua.
Over the years, Chen’s research interest grows from carrying out difficult HR(S)TEM imaging experiments to combining new imaging techniques with advanced image processing:
-
Aberration-corrected HR(S)TEM imaging;
-
Low-dose HR(S)TEM imaging;
- Ultra fast HRTEM imaging;
-
Image denoising;
-
Machine learning on large-scale data processing.
